I watched "Midnight" from Doctor Who and boy did that unnerve me. I'm not scared, but unnerved. That's the only word I can think of.
And then I read Goblin Market by Christina Rosetti. Now I'm continuing in the vein of strange, somewhat creepy poetry. And I love it.
Cut for length, and for those afraid of Literature, capital L )

(the funny thing is I'm serious)
It went something like this...
How many software programmers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None. That's a hardware problem.

I find it really funny :D

Anyway, today was great. Except the being late thing, cuz...I hate being late. I fell asleep after my alarm again. But dang I needed that extra 20!
In English, despite being late, I shined early & she forgave me quickly. And then I got to geek out over Emily Dickinson. "What do you guys thing about her?" "I have no idea what she's saying most of the time" "Well I think she's bloody brilliant."
Italian was fun. I read off my essay that I wrote yesterday & only had a few minor errors. Most of which I found myself while reading through it. I really should proof-read things.
After school I stopped by the shop and picked up X-Factor, Pride & Prejudice, & Red Robin. I read X-Factor and liked it much (and uh...dang, Monet), and also Red Robin which was very interesting. I haven't read P&P yet though. It's so weird to just be a customer some times. But, I'm not just any customer anymore, and I never will be again. And that's even stranger, really. Oh well.
It's been real quiet here tonight, and I like that. Mugs has finally settled down & now I think he's just pouting. No longer rebelling though, thank God. I updated my computer & then spent a lot of time just listening to music. I have such love for Lady Gaga, Fergie, & Miley Cyrus tonight. I went to dinner at Taco Bell, which always seems so close until I drive there. Whatevs, it was tasty.
Talked to my mum about next week, and how we're getting there, what time to arrive, & where to park, all that fun stuff. I'm so excited!!! I realized earlier on the way back from LP that it was only 1 week left--exactly--and I squealed. And then I laughed at myself. So, this is an awesome early birthday present. And even better, if all goes well, I'll have a very special visitor on my birthday too!! (btw K, I was wrong, I work that Weds after--I forgot about my other job, oops)

My plans for the night were as follows: read comics, eat dinner, watch some Who, shower, & write something for CT. So far I've done the first three & I shall now continue with the rest of the list!

Do de do de dooo....I'm writing! I swear! This will totally count as writing. It just won't boost my word count is all.

(I also wrote a kind of depressing but awesome metaphoric piece on [info]prompt_a_day just now, so that counts too.)

Let us all aspire to be like,
Like that Lady in White,
The lady whom the people call Myth.
Let us see the world through different eyes,
Though the glasses may be darkened.
Let us focus on the All of everything,
And not just on ourselves.
Let us write the words,
The words all people read.
Let us not fear Death,
And embrace Inevitability.
Let us break the stereotypes,
And be our own,
Be our own Everything.
Let us all wear White.

Obscure poems ftw?

I don't really know what to talk about today.

+ Earlier my internet was going in & out, which was okay for a bit because I was working on my writing. But it wasn't so okay when I was trying to do research on Emily Dickenson & auto-immune diseases. Then it went out & I was all !!! because I need to research for my writing. Stupid internets.

+ Spent a long time fighting with two computers, a modem, & a router today at dad's trying to get my laptop to work with the wireless. My dad is not a help with this and it was worse that he wrote the passcode down so that the 4s looked like Ys. Eventually I got it to work and my keychain remembers everything, so thankfully I won't have to go through that again. It was such a pain!
+ As soon as we got it to work, it was announced that we were going to Cindy's house. Nice timing, eh?
+ It was Laura's birthday today, so we all went over there for a pizza party. I always feel really awkward at those kinds of things, but eventually I was able to get a kind of comfort (though not totally comfortable).
+ I tried Rock Band for the first time ever today and I'm really good at the singing part. That's the only part I've tried so far. Renee was originally singing, with Tori on drums, and Olivia on guitar and they failed over and over (because of Renee & Tori). After a bit Renee moved to drums & I took over as singer and we passed very well. It's all about who's on what. The song was "Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi, which I love, so that helped. :)

Like I mentioned, I bought an especially pretty hardcover of "Three Great American Poets" (from the Borders Classics line, though I got it elsewhere for like $3) that has poetry from Whitman, Dickenson, & Frost. I thought I'd share some.

It comes with one of those built-in ribbon bookmarks and I wanted to read the page where the bookmark was. It was 2 and 3 by Emily Dickenson.
Poetry lies beyond )

For some reason unbeknownst to me, the Death & Eternity section of Dickenson's chapter, does not include Because I Could Not Stop for Death, which is my favorite of hers. This is wrong.
