See, the reason I loved summer school so much is that I was taking my finals about the time that I begin to simply become overloaded & my brain shuts down. I can survive until those finals. But in the regular school year, this time is just before midterms and I don't have that simple fix-all cure that is knowing that I am almost done. I am not almost done. I am almost half done. This is going to kill me.

My brain has seriously shut down. My spelling is positively atrocious; if I didn't have auto-spellcheck on here, this would be extremely hard to read. Trust me...I have done really really stupid things. And I can't find words I'm looking for. Today in the Othello opening discussion I pulled out my copy of Let it Snow to look up a word that I could not think of. I am forgetting important events and assignment dates. I just want to sleep.

So, I am going to do my interview thing tomorrow. She can yell at me if she wants, but I just need some time to recoup. So I am going into college-mind detox. I will spend the night watching The Emperor's New Groove while discussing/fanning/quoting obsessively with Mike over MSN. I will read the rest of the John Green section of Let it Snow, which is some of the funniest stuff I have read in a LONG time. If the Duke and Tobin do not get together I will even stoop so low as to write fanfiction for them where Duke tells JP all about Billy, but how she really just wants to be with Tobin, but how Tobin doesn't think of her that way. I need these two to be together. NEED.
If I am still in need of some more detoxing I will watch Potter Puppet Pals & Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

So...yeah. I hate school. My brain is eated.

Also: White Sox are out of the playoffs :( :( :( I kind of saw this coming, but still, it's disappointing. Still, we didn't get swept like some other team I can think of.
On the upside of things, I found out that 2 days before John Green shows up at Anderson's, Cornelia Funke will be there. I will drive straight from work to get there to see her and get her to sign my copy of Inkdeath (or should it be Inkheart?) and I will do everything in my power to get Casye a signed copy of Inkdeath as a very early birthday present. I will kidnap [info]jenthepanda to stand in line with me to get that signature if needbe (well, she lives across the street basically).

Chicago White Sox also won today! Yaaay! The final score was 5-3 and I actually got to see this game, unlike the Bears game. I would have rather watched the Bears, but I guess being able to watch the Sox win a playoff game is better than watching the third game of the NFL season for the Bears.
So, the Bears won, the Sox won, the Cubs are out of the running...just a regular day in Chicago :P I'm such a south sider, haha. As for the Cubs, I agree with John Scalzi.

MLB standings as of now:
American League:
White Sox vs Rays: Rays lead 2-1. Next game: @CWS Monday 6 Oct
Red Sox vs Angels: Red Sox lead 2-1. Next game: in progress, @BOS, tied 4-4 in top of 6th

National League:
Phillies vs Brewers: Phillies win 3-1
Dodgers vs Cubs: Dodgers win 3-0 (poor Cubbies)

Just finished my review of The Great Gatsby for the Blazer and I think it's a lot better than the Peeps review. Some thanks goes to Karina for that :) Thanks K!

I think I'm going to fake my professional interview for speech, because I think it's due tomorrow & I didn't know about it until Friday because somehow I didn't get the information on it. Maybe I was sick or something? I only remember missing one class and that was quite awhile back. Hm...anyway...I think since mine has to be with an author I'll just take answers from interviews they've done with me and with others. I could say it was with Norm maybe? idk. Maybe I won't have to say...because it's not really the interview she wants, it's the reaction to it.
I think there's also a chapter checkup due, which I have yet to do. I've done 1 of them so far...I really need to start doing those & getting them in because I'm loosing so many points right now.
I wonder if I could apply to Trinity right now so they see my current GPA of 3.5 before it drops down after this semester. I know it will because I hate these classes so much and simply do not care. Speech I just get so frustrated with, but I know it all. My test scores in that class are great and so are my speeches. It's the homework I cannot stand to do. In PR we have very few assignments & I'm doing well on the tests (I think, we only had one & I haven't gotten it back yet) so there's not much to score upon. I just get really bored in there & don't feel like I'm actually learning anything. Religion is...ew. My test scores are horrible, but they are only worth about 10 points each which is good. I'll have to study some before the midterm and finals because those are worth a lot. My papers have been really good so far & my research project/presentation is looking to be really good as well. English goes well also, getting A's & B+'s on my papers, picking up extra points almost every class periods with the reading quizzes (each only worth about 1.5 pts, but will be added to my research project) and the essay due later this week as well as my research project seem like they'll be easy enough.
The main problem is my total lack of motivation. Everything is too boring, too frustrating, or too easy. Or in the case of my speech class: all three, depending on the day.

I miss summer school.

I also hate college because it took all my friends away. Chris I never ever see because she's up in freaking Canada (close enough), Crystal I've yet to see but will hopefully see this weekend (either Friday or Saturday) with Jess, and Jenny I can sometimes see if I have enough time to drive out there & hang out. I'm going to see Jenny this Wednesday, but still, I never see my other friends who don't go to JuCo (and that's a fair few). Even those who don't live around here I talk to less because they're in college. I barely ever get to talk to Mike anymore. I expected it based off of what happened last year, but still, it sucks.

Current Music: Dave Ghazarian on Guitar Hero. Impressive, but kind of annoying?

Seriously, I AM working on my Judaism paper, but I could not wait to post this!!

THE WHITE SOX JUST BECAME THE ALC CHAMPS....AGAIN. WHOOOOOOT!!
They beat out the Twins 1-0 with an amazing catch in the 9th inning. That guy was flying or something, it was freaking awesome! AND it was a home game too, so that's doubly awesome.

Standings as of right now (thanks to MLB.com)

American League
East - Tampa Bay Rays - 97/65 - W1 streak
East - Boston Red Sox - 95/67 - W1
Central - Chicago White Sox - 89/74 - W3
West - LA Anaheim Angels - 100/62 - W1

National League
East - Philadelphia Phillies - 92/70 - W3
Central - Chicago Cubs - 97/64 - L1
Central - Milwaukee Brewers - 90/72 - W1
West - LA Dodgers - 84/78 - L1

Okay, so based on wins/loses the series would be Angels vs Cubs. But I'm predicting a White Sox vs. Phillies. My personal preference however would be White Sox vs. Dodgers. No matter who plays, I'm betting that the AL team wins, the NL teams aren't really all that great this year. And the Cubs? Really? They haven't won a series in 100 years. (Cubs fans are already making shirts & stuff that say "centurypeat" on them, lol)

BTW, this is the first time both Chicago teams have made it to the playoffs in 102 years! If both Chicago teams make it to the series it'll be INSANE. OMG we'd have a gang war on our hands with the rivalry! It's bad enough already, we don't need to make it any worse! (So I'm rooting for the Dodgers tomorrow, because I actually also like the Dodgers) But it'd be nice for traveling between games at least.

Also: the Chicago Bears are 2-2-0 and won their last game. They also beat out the Colts in the first game which is really good imo. The Colts are 1-2-0 which makes me sad because I want the Colts to beat out everyone who isn't the Bears. Colts face the Austin Texans on Sunday at the same time the Bears face the Detroit Lions. I hope both teams win!!! I'm glad I don't work this Sunday :D
